Invest-NL
Invest-NL is the National Promotional Institution of the Netherlands. It is a private company financed with public funds, with the Dutch Ministry of Finance as its sole shareholder. Invest-NL provides businesses, projects and funds with access to finance so they can contribute to societal transitions, innovation capacity and economic resilience. As a system player, Invest-NL connects entrepreneurs, financiers, knowledge institutions and governments in the Netherlands and across Europe. It does so through venture capital, company and project finance, market development and the development of financial products. Within its current strategy, Invest-NL focuses on societal transitions, innovative technology and resilience. Its strategic themes are Energy, Agrifood, Biobased & Circular Economy, Deep tech, and Life Sciences & Health. In addition, Invest-NL is broadening its scope in areas such as biotech, catalyst technologies, critical raw materials, energy independence and strategic investments that strengthen the Netherlands’ future earning capacity and resilience.
More risk capital available
The Netherlands faces financing bottlenecks in transitions and innovation, especially for capital-intensive, long-term investments with a high-risk profile. Public financing instruments are fragmented, and Dutch businesses do not yet make full use of European instruments. Invest-NL helps address these gaps through market development, by mobilising capital from private, institutional and European parties, and by investing with patient capital where risks are high, maturities are long or financing cases are complex. Entrepreneurs, corporates, project developers and funds can use the funding check on the Invest-NL website to see whether they may qualify for financing. For enterprises and projects, Invest-NL generally focuses on impactful innovations with an eventual funding requirement of at least €10 million. For funds, the reference point is an eventual funding need of at least €50 million. .
Far-reaching ambitions
Invest-NL aims to make more capital available for high-risk, long-term investments in the transitions, technologies and strategic sectors that matter for the Netherlands of tomorrow. The challenges behind major transitions are often too complex for capital alone. These are puzzles that require smart solutions, combining capital, expertise and the right network to make investments possible where the market is still hesitant.
