On 20 January 2021, ELTI organised a workshop which aimed to discuss SMEs & Mid-caps’ access to finance.

This initiative started from the idea that most small- and mid-cap companies have taken on high levels of debt during the current crisis. They have a structural need to reinforce their equity in order to continue their growth. In such a context, the idea is to look for a European support initiative. The approach currently discussed takes the form of a European platform that would invest in national funds already created or to be created. The aim is to strengthen the equity positions of SMEs & mid-caps, targeting in particular those operating in key strategic sectors for the European economy. This project is discussed with several NPBIs and with the European Investment Bank (EIB/EIF).
